Camping is an outdoor activity that everyone in the family can enjoy. But camping can be more fun, enjoyable and comfortable when you are well prepared for it. Among the items you should pack for your trip is a portable light source for better night-time vision. Although a bonfire can provide light for your camp at night, an LED lantern is something that you can bring into your tent. So which one can you rely on?
A versatile lamp is the KingCamp rechargeable LED camping lantern. This lamp provides the illumination that you need on your outdoor trip without needing to be plugged in. It can also be a good stand-by light source at home in times of emergency.
You can read about the features of this product in my detailed review below. I’ll also talk about the great and not-so-great things about this product so that you can make a decision as to whether or not this lantern will suit your needs.
KingCamp does more than just lanterns, they went above and beyond and built a whole range of products for camping lovers. Their strong point remains the chairs, I would say and you can check out some of them here.
Features of KingCamp Rechargeable LED Lantern
This item is a versatile light source. Not only is it a hanging lamp, it also has 2 detachable flashlight torches that can be used individually. It’s compact, lightweight and portable for various activities such as camping, fishing, reading, hiking, caving or even as part of your emergency kit at home.
The two torches can be separated from the main body; each can be used as a mini flashlight torch. Each torch runs on 3 AAA batteries, which, btw, are not included with the purchase. They provide up to 6 hours of use. When the torches are not used separately, they can be placed back into the main lantern and locked in position for a secure fit.
Brightest LED Camping Lantern?
KingCamp has a total of 70 ultra-bright white LED lights that can provide up to 200 lumens of light for your tent or camping site. There are 15 LED lights on each side of the main lantern, 15 on the side of the torches and 5 on the top part of the torches. When all the light beads are turned on, these ultra-bright LEDs can provide a 360° source of light.
The main lamp can be used on its own without turning on the two torches sitting on each side. With fewer lights turned on, the intensity of light would also be less, which is great when you are about to turn in for the night. The gadget can provide light for up to 60 hours when the 15 light beads are on and up to 30 hours when all 30 lights of the main lantern are used.
A Rechargeable Camping Lantern
The main lantern’s built-in 6V rechargeable battery can be found at the bottom. It comes with its own wall charger and a handy car charger too. Although it is rechargeable, it is not advised to charge the unit for more than 24 hours. It is also recommended to recharge the battery before storage and regularly every 3-4 months even if it is not used.
The lantern comes with a durable and sturdy base so that you can place it on top of a level surface without fear of it tipping over. It has handles that you can position at the top of the lamp to make it easy to carry or hang. In case you don’t need the handle, it can easily be folded down on the sides.
The zippered black Oxford carry bag it comes with has two zippered compartments: one for the flashlight and the smaller one at the top for the two chargers. The carry case also has its own handle at the top, making it easy to carry the lamp without you having to remember to bring the charger.
The lantern’s dimensions are 13 × 26 cm / 5.12 × 10.23 inches and it weighs 3.02 lbs. It’s mostly black, with a yellow-green accent color.
Final Thoughts
The KingCamp rechargeable 70 LED Flashlight is a great source of light for outdoor and indoor activities. It conveniently provides up to 200 lumens of light that can also be dimmed by switching off some of the LED lights. It is easy to carry; plus, there are also 2 torches included at the side. You can take one with you when you want to go for a night walk without taking all the light away from your campsite. These are many reasons why I like this flashlight.
On the other hand, I would have liked that the torches were also rechargeable. In that case, there wouldn’t be a need to purchase batteries. It also doesn’t charge with solar power nor is it waterproof. Considering the price, some might find it a little steep for the features that it has to offer.
There are some more affordable alternatives on the market today. If you really love the idea of the flashlights and don’t mind buying batteries for them, then you can enjoy owning this camping lantern combo.
Still one of the best led lanterns is roadeavour for me.
Hello, Joie – Are you referring to the battery-powered one that’s shaped like a lightbulb? It’s the only LED lamp I find on their website…
